Bug's Learning Grove
Our Grove

A real school building, with a gym and a lot of outside.

800 West Broad Street in Horseheads is the former Broad Street Elementary School: a full gym, a fenced playground, and classrooms separated by age group — plus the safety practices we're happy to walk you through in person.

The space

Take a look around.

Real photos are coming as soon as the rooms are finished. Until then, here's what's where.

Safety & licensing

How we run the building.

Safety and cleanliness are the first thing parents ask about. This is the full list.

Licensed by New York State

We are a licensed child day care center regulated by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS). License [NYS OCFS LICENSE #]. Inspection history is public on the OCFS website.

Everyone is background-checked

Every staff member clears the NYS comprehensive background check — fingerprinting, the Statewide Central Register, and the Justice Center — before their first day.

CPR & First Aid certified

All staff hold current pediatric CPR and First Aid certification and complete the OCFS-required health & safety training, plus annual continuing education.

Secure entry

Keypad-controlled entry, every pickup checked against your authorized list, and photo ID for anyone we haven't met.

Low ratios, always

We staff at or better than NYS ratios in every room, and our family app shows you who was with your child and when.

Clean, healthy, allergy-aware

Daily cleaning and toy sanitizing, a written illness policy, and allergy plans posted in every room and in the kitchen.

Ratios by room

New York State sets maximum teacher-to-child ratios for licensed centers. We staff at or better than these in every room.
